I was with Joseph S. making chocolates with him. However we have moved operations to yet another area. It was in a neighborhood that was always dark, the sun never shined. It seemed to always be overcast. We were working right next to Yukimi Y. who was training a new girl to work at sophie's crepes. Joseph accidentally bumped into one of the stainless steel counters and suddenly a nest of roaches started spewing out from under the counter. Although I wouldn't normally be frightened, these guys were the size of wallets. Almost like mini blue crabs, they started to disperse as the new girl was screaming in surprise. I tried to get out of the way, but one started to chase me trying to claw me. I finally ran around in a circle a few times and back with the others which it then left me alone.
There was a health inspector that saw all of that, and got all excited that it was a sign that there's a sanitation problem. But then Yukimi explained how it was the next building over that wasn't clean and that everyone in our building was doing their part to keep the place clean. I went with the inspector to check out the place next door. To our surprise there was an entire factory producing crabs.
To get out, I squeezed between some packaging boxes by the loading dock, and I was back out on the street level. As I got out and started to head back, I could hear the commotion behind me so I started running away as workers from the crab factory started to broaden their search to find me.
I was back at our place getting ready to make more chocolate, when Joseph appeared. But he looked really different: he was thinner in the face, and looked exhausted. For a while I wasn't sure if it was really him or not, but it looked like he had no strength in him. But he insisted like always that he was okay, and that we had to make, pack, and deliver those chocolates. At one point Joseph lost balance and started to stumble over, I ran as quick as I could to steady him. His idea was then to push a swivel chair with him for balance, and a place to sit when necessary. However while delivering he fell over a few times. It was very painful to watch as I was too far to react. But like a tank he just slowly got back up and crack a joke, and keep on going.
Finally though we returned to the production facility after making the deliveries. I saw him sit down happily in front of the chocolates we made to pack more. I turned my back for a second and when I looked back over he had disappeared. "Joseph?" I said glancing around. Suddenly I felt a chill down my spine as I knew exactly where he was. I ran around the steel counter to his side to find him face down on the floor. He had fallen off the chair. I sat down on the floor with him and rolled him so that he was resting on me. There was now blood everywhere: on the chair, on the floor, on his cheeks and arms, on my clothes. I tried to keep pressure on him, while wiping his face clean with a side towel. But I knew the end was near: I started to cry, as he assured me that he was okay. I told him how bad I felt, how he had done so much wonderful things for me, and all the things he gave to me. How now in his time of need, I wasn't able to help him.
Then I woke up with tears.
